Upper Bavaria

Get to know it

The Gästehaus Guggenberger is located in Siegertsbrunn, just a few kilometres to the south of Munich. Our excellent motorway and rail connections mean that you can reach the Bavarian capital, the district cities of Wasserburg and Rosenheim, Salzburg, once the Austrian residence of the prince-bishop, and many other destinations for excursions in under two hours. The royal castles of Ludwig II and the monasteries and churches in the Pfaffenwinkel (Priests’ Corner) are also always worth a visit. We can guarantee that every guest will find a suitable cultural programme in the catchment area of our hotel, whether you are on a business trip, a private holiday, on the edge of a trade fair or just travelling through. Our guests can get to Munich Airport in about 45 minutes. The Munich S-Bahn runs every 20 minutes from the Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn S-Bahn station, only 15 minutes walk away from the hotel.

Nature

Experience

For walks and short hikes, we recommend the nearby recreation area of Höhenkirchner Forst, quite close to our hotel. To the south lie the wide spaces of Upper Bavaria. Enjoy the picture-book views and be delighted by the magnificent splendour of nature. In summer, the mountain and valley meadows are covered in wild flowers, in winter the landscape is clothed in white and looks especially calm and peaceful. Although Upper Bavaria is a modern region today, it has kept its authentic traditions.

Sports

activities

The natural beauty of Upper Bavaria makes the environment of our hotel ideal for all kinds of sports activities. Go cross-country skiing, explore the area by bike or play a game of golf. In the summer, the Schliersee, Tegernsee and Chiemsee lakes invite you to swim in their crystal-clear waters. On the horizon are the shining, magnificent peaks of the northern Alpine range. Only about 1 hour away from us, fantastic hiking trails and ski areas such as the Brauneck, the Wetterstein massif, the Wendelstein, the Mangfall range or the Watzmann in the Berchtesgaden National Park are waiting for you.

Culture

Enjoy

There are good reasons for Upper Bavaria being one of the most popular destinations in the whole of Germany. The awareness of tradition and culture has made the Bavarian way of life famous all over the world. Historic sites such as the King Ludwig palaces, mediaeval castles and towns, centuries-old monasteries and picturesque little villages are charming destinations. Cosy small pubs welcome their guests with live traditional music and rustic theatre. Thanks to their fresh taste, the fame of Bavarian beers, too, extends far beyond the boundaries of the Free State of Bavaria.

Fantastic

destinations

There are numerous attractions in and around Munich for excursions with your family or colleagues. Spend an afternoon in Hellabrunn Zoo, visit the Allianz Arena and watch a game with FC Bayern, or visit the Vereinsmuseum (Club Museum). There’s always something happening on the Theresienwiese! Even if the Oktoberfest isn’t in full swing, the Tollwood Festival and other events will delight visitors to the city. And finally, don’t forget to relax! We recommend a visit to the Erding thermal spa.
